{"id":2534,"date":"2017-01-23T23:00:29","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T22:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/euracoal.eu\/?p=2534"},"modified":"2017-01-23T23:00:29","modified_gmt":"2017-01-23T22:00:29","slug":"two-major-new-coal-reports-launched-in-brussels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pipe.euracoal.biz\/?p=2534","title":{"rendered":"Two major new coal reports launched in Brussels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EURACOAL President, Dr. Wolfgang Cieslik, today launched the 6<sup>th<\/sup> edition of <em>Coal Industry across Europe<\/em> in the presence of Mr.\u00a0Keisuke Sadamori, Director of Energy Markets and Security at the International Energy Agency.<\/p>\n<p><em style=\"text-align:justify;\">Coal Industry across Europe<\/em> is a comprehensive review, analysing all EU member states that use coal and lignite as well as participants in the Energy Community.\u00a0 With chapters on socio-economic issues and coal trade developments, this new edition also features a series of special insights covering recent coal-sector investments and cutting-edge R&amp;D that has enhanced productivity at coal mines, improved efficiency at coal-fired power plants and limited the negative environmental impacts of coal use.<\/p>\n<p>After the launch, IEA Director Sadamori presented the Agency\u2019s <em>Medium-Term Coal Market Report 2016<\/em>.\u00a0 He said that coal demand will plateau over the next five years:\u00a0 while demand stalls in China, falling demand in the US and the EU will be balanced by rising consumption in India and South East Asia.\u00a0 Mr. Sadamori explained that the surge in coal prices during 2016 was mainly due to policy action in China to cut coal production capacity and so curb oversupply.<\/p>\n<p>The new EURACOAL publication is freely available <a href=\"https:\/\/euracoal.eu\/library\/publications\">here<\/a>, while the IEA coal market report can be purchased from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/medium-term-coal-market-report-2016\">IEA bookshop<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Presentations from the event are available <a href=\"https:\/\/euracoal.eu\/events\/presentations\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EURACOAL President, Dr. Wolfgang Cieslik, today launched the 6th edition of Coal Industry across Europe in the presence of Mr.\u00a0Keisuke Sadamori, Director of Energy Markets and Security at the International Energy Agency.
